June in the Foothills

Hello from the warm and humid foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains!

(fyi:  my camera died so I wasn't planning to post until I decide on a new one, but that may be a good while;  I'm so indecisive.  In the meantime I'm using pics from my phone, and the spaces between the pictures are trying my patience so bear with me or I'll be tempted to just scrap this post.)
Our hydrangeas have been amazingly abundant this year.

We've enjoyed bouquet after bouquet of them. This one is keeping company with a little creamer that I found at an estate sale.  Youngest painted those flowers on it for me.

Love the purple hues in these below.






I've been knitting, but took some time out from that to sew a few project bags to keep my different projects in. I really like this upholstery print from Walmart. 



I may have gotten a little bit carried away making bags with the pink floral Oriental print fabric.  Is four too many?  I don't think so.  o.O


This polka dotted interior fabric is also from Walmart.

I'll leave you today with a look at the thickest kombucha S.C.O.B.Y. I've ever seen. o.O
(Kombucha is a probiotic health drink that can be easily made at home.)

    i like the bags! yes, that upholstery pattern is pretty! beautiful hydrangeas. good luck choosing a camera. and don't beat yourself up when the next 'greatest thing' comes out the day after you buy yours. :)

      I should have given an explanation, sorry about that. Kombucha is a probiotic health drink that can be made at home. It has really helped my husband and I with joint pain.

    The bags ARE beautiful, Toni. If four of the pink ones is too many, you could...ahem...have a giveaway. :) I love the pattern in the blue one. If you need help choosing a camera, let me know. I have a subscription to Consumer Reports and consult it before every major purchase.

    Wow, Mum. Those are great hydrangeas! The camera pictures look really good, to me. Even ol' Bossie looks okay. I think maybe you ought to try drying some of them 'drangeas, this year.

    Dear Toni...what a joy to read a post from you! I am sorry to hear about your camera...how frustrating for you... Your Hydranges are glorious - I hope to have a whole lot in my future home someday...they have always been a favourite of mine and I especially liek the blue ones... And enjoy your sewing - I think your little bags are stunning and the fabrics are lovely too!

      Thank you, Kelly-Anne! I've only had hydrangeas for 3 or 4 years, but I have enjoyed them so much I don't know why I didn't get them sooner. The first one was a Mother's Day gift so that got me start with them. :)

    First off, you have the prettiest hydrangeas! Secondly, I love your project bags! That is a great idea to separate them as mine are in baskets and can get tangled up together. Thirdly, I am jealous of your SCOBY! :) My kombucha is acting weird right now and is starting to sink... S.O.S.

    P.S. My camera died also and I ended up using my phone to this day! :)

      Thank you, JES, I may just do as Linda suggested and have a giveaway with one of the bags as they are so useful. I love keeping the socks I'm knitting and the needles in a bag when I'm busy otherwise. That SCOBY is hilarious, I think. I didn't make any for a while so it just grew and grew. And as I type this one has sunken in the jar, too. I don't know what's up with that.

    You can never have too many bags. Those are seriously the biggest hydrangeas I have ever seen. I'm going to get to go to Virginia to see my husband at Fort Lee next week so I will be experiencing all that humidity along with you guys . I'm so excited to see the Atlantic ocean for the first time. Never been further east than Kentucky

    I don't think four are too many. How can they be too many when they're so gorgeous? I love the fabrics you found and oh, that creamer! Your hydrangeas (hortensias in Spanish) look amazing indeed. What a wonderful garden you have.

    I love Hydrangea blooms, the blue ones are my favorites. That cow creamer is cute. Reminded me of the first time I met a pen-pal and was having dinner with their family. Someone asked me to, "Pass the Cow" down the table and I had no clue what they meant until they told me it was the cow creamer that they were asking for.

    Great job on your bags! A friend of mine makes bags (I don't), and she's gifted me with one. So many uses! I love hydrangeas, but recently found out mosquitoes love them too and hover around them. I have never noticed them around mine. Saw some RED hydrangeas in AR and loved them!
