Ten Years and Counting

Hello from the foothills!  I've been using my new camera a bit, but oh my, I'm no photographer, not yet anyway.

I hope to enroll in an online photography course soon to remedy my ignorance with the new camera, but in the meantime I'm keeping it on Auto. ;)

Have I ever mentioned that I cook a lot?  You should see my poor stove.  It's black and white and scratched allover, but I really don't mind.   Here's one of Goodman's favorite breakfasts.

I crocheted this sparkly scarf recently from what I thought was acrylic yarn, but after I got in the swing of stitching I began to itch and break out.  It seems only 10% wool will not be tolerable, either, so...

It's hello cotton, linen and acrylic for me.

This little green guy is one of three little cuties from Susan B. Anderson's String Along Toys pattern.  More on them next time.  (He's thinkin' about something...)

To celebrate my tenth blogaversary I'm giving away this skein of fingering weight, kettle dyed Malabrigo Sock yarn.  It's 100% merino wool, 400 yards so there's enough for a fine pair of socks or whatever you'd like to make with it.  In the event the random number generator picks a non-knitting entity...

I'll be happy to substitute a couple of bars of my homemade soap if you like.
All you have to do is leave a comment to be entered.  I'll contact the winner on Friday January 27, 2017.  Have a great week, y'all!
Edited 1/27/17 to add:  Random number generator chose JES.  Congratulations, I've sent you an email.
Thanks to everyone who left a comment on this post.  I always enjoy hearing them.

  1. Congratulations on your 10th blogaversary, Toni! Have to say, that your eggs certainly turned out prettier than mine. There's some pretty acrylic yarns out there, too. And the silver lining is that they usually cost a lot less than wool. Good luck with photography course!

    Hugs

    1. Thank you, Jane! Goodman likes his eggs over medium with no straying from the program so I set the burner to just below medium and hope for the best. I've been giving the Brava Worsted yarns at Knitpicks some scrutiny and hope to order soon. I hear they are high quality at a poor man's price.

  2. Love your bird photos... Even without the online classes! Love the yarn too. A friend is (re) teaching me to knit so yarn is always catching my eye these days! Lol

    1. Good for you, Marcie! You will love knitting. After you get the hang of it it will seem like free therapy for the soul, and you'll have something wonderful to wear or give away when you're done. Did I mention I love knitting? lol

  6. Toni, you did very well on those bird shots! I especially like the cardinal. You're going to get along nicely with that new camera. Congratulations on 10 years of blogging! Well done. You know, your wool allergy might be the result of handling wool over a long period of time. This may sound unrelated, but Doug developed an allergy to iceburg lettuce after working in a grocery store produce department. His arms would break out in a rash; and, if he eats it even now, he gets a sore throat. Go figure. No need to enter me in the drawing, my friend. There are so many others who would appreciate the yarn and the soaps more.

    1. Thank you, Linda! Sorry to hear your husband is allergic to lettuce, that's too bad as I love a good salad with lettuce.

    2. It's just an allergy to iceburg lettuce, Toni. He does fine with romaine, leaf lettuce, Boston, or spinach. We love salads, too. He just has to be careful of the ones made with iceburg lettuce.

    1. Thank you, Eileen! I really love seeing the birds with bright colors. We have bluebirds, but they are too wary for me to get a good shot. I need a remote, I think.

    1. Thank you, JES! I enjoy cooking most times, but occasionally breakfast has me stumped, but the meat was leftover from another meal so easy as I just steamed it. I love the yarn, but it's fun to give it away, too.
