There just aren't many covered bridges in our neck of the woods so we decided to have a look at it.
Love the setting and the simple construction of the bridge.
It was a bumpy ride, but just look at those boards and the windows. Bridge heaven. Sorry about the light - these are all cellphone pics.
In previous apple orchard posts, here, here and here, the focus was on the orchard and the many offerings at the market, but not this time. It's time to see the gate.
A fitting one, I say.
Well, maybe just one pic of the orchard.
On the way home we drove by this building, yes, that's a goat on the roof (click for big pic), and there were many others up there. The place is called Goats on the Roof, but the attraction is the Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster. I had never heard of it, but I like the idea. No, we didn't ride it, but I found this video posted by someone who did. If you'd like to try the coaster out from right where you are go here. (no affiliation w/ the business or the video)
Remember the stack of zinnia cloths I crocheted with proper "open disc florets" (lol) when I first discovered this pattern? Well, here are three zinnia cloths with obscure open disc florets. O.O
What's for dinner - homemade chili relleños, refried beans and the best ever chunky guacamole. Delicious.

Hmmm...your dinner looks wonderful, dear Toni! And oh my...how pretty those ''zinnias'' are...I do so love the colours! And that bridge looks incredible...thank you for sharing your lovely outing with us...always a delight to visit with you! Have a truly blessed week ahead...all my love! Kelly-Anne
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly-Anne! Thank you for stopping by for a visit. We had a lovely day.
DeleteI googled to see where Cosby,TN was and the apple place. It is not that far from Pigeon Forge actually. The National Quartet Convention will start in a few weeks. That would be a nice side tour if a person was at the NQC and wanted something to do during the day.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte Moore
Hi Charlotte! Yes, Pigeon Forge is really close to Cosby, and there is a restaurant at the orchard that serves great food. And fried apple pies are available at the market - all together on the same property.
DeleteHello, I love the covered bridge and the view of the orchards. The gate is cool! Your dinner looks delicious, YUM! Great images, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen. The bridge was fun to see.
DeleteWhat a pretty area you live in! Thanks for sharing it with us. Those zinnia cloths are so cute. Especially love the "green envy" one. Wish I knew how to crochet. Hope you have a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteJane
Thank you, Jane! I think you'd really enjoy crocheting. I learned from a book, but the videos available now are much better. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteWhat a wonderful find! I love old bridges.
ReplyDelete(love the cloths) I have a pretty orange one on my kitchen island :)
I agree, love that bridge, and I'm tickled you like the cloth.
DeleteOh I just loved covered bridges! I used to go to a covered bridge festival in Indiana in the fall...what glorious scenery! The entry way to the orchard is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi Debby, I really can't image a covered bridge festival! That would be so much fun.
DeleteWhat a picturesque bridge. What a lovely drive that must have been. So glad you shared this outdoor post on this week's Maple Hill Hop!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Daisy, I always enjoy your linkup.
DeleteWhat a beautiful covered bridge! I am fascinated by them as we don't have any in Northern Ireland but ive been able to go through some in Pennsylvania They are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThe orchard gate is very neat! I did venture to ride a mountain coaster before and thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
I am now a follower and will be back for more of your warm Southern hospitality!
Christine
Hi Christine, I'm glad you stopped in and thank you for the follow. I think we're going to give the coaster a go next time we go by there.
Deletewhat a cool GATE!!! love your area, too. beautiful green rolling hills and fences!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Theresa, can't wait to link up to Good Fences on Thursday.
DeleteI think it is neat that allot of these covered bridges are kept in good shape. that is an awesome gate.
ReplyDeletegoats are so fun-before retirement we used to raise a herd of them for their milk to make cheeses and yogurt with we always enjoyed watching the young ones-so comical.
Goats are fun! We kept them for several years, too. It started out as our daughter's 4-H project and ended up be something we all enjoyed. Loved all the cheeses and goat milk soap we made.
DeleteThose dish towels look so wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Connie. :)
DeleteBridge looks simple and beautiful. The towels are colorful and good. Home made dishes are always good to health...
ReplyDeleteThank you, and thanks for stopping by.

DeleteVery nice ! I love the gate !
ReplyDeleteThank you, I like the gate, too.
DeleteLove the covered bridge--and it doesn't have an graffiti on it (at least from what I can see in your photos)!! I really enjoyed visiting a few of the covered bridges in the Winterset, Iowa area, but they've obviously been used as a sort of guest book for decades.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's too bad, Bethany. I hate to see things like that defaced.
DeleteLove the covered bridge shot and you captured it so well going through with a cell phone.
ReplyDeleteThe fence and gate with the apple is unique. Looks like a delicious dinner and your crocheted cloths are wonderful.
Happy September! Blessings, cm
Hi Celestina, I'm glad you enjoyed the bridge as it is my favorite in this post.
DeleteGlad you showed us the covered bridge adn also took shots as you went through it. Very lovely and I think that big apple on the gate is very fitting for an Orchard.
ReplyDeleteHi Margaret, thank you for your kind words.
DeleteSupper looks delicious. Love those zinnea cloths. I tried it and mine turned out terrible! Yours are beautiful. BTW I love your part of the country. I've been there a couple times and can't get over the scenery. Also like covered bridges, one of the things we have few of in Wisconsin.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Judy. Some patterns are easier to follow than others. I've been crocheting since the stone age so I was able to manage it. Thank you for stopping by.
DeleteFabulous covered bridge. Loved the Apple Gate, very fitting.
ReplyDeleteMmmm your Chili Relleno sounds good (do you have a recipe?)
Thank you, Ida, I'll be around to see you in a little while. :)

ReplyDeleteTrue, Janice, true. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteHope you have plenty of those chili rellenos leftover. I'm gonna be knocking on your door VERY soon!!! Extra cheese please. YUM.
ReplyDeleteThe covered bridge, I love....reminds me of Icabod Crane....Sleepy Hollow.
Lovin' the apple gate....that's a surname isn't it? Applegate? Never mind. Just thinking 'aloud'.
Hope you like them with mozzarella, come on by. :)
DeleteI love that covered bridge...we have a bunch of them in the country next door. In fact next month they have the Parke County Covered Bridge festival which draws at least a couple million visitors each year...the festival lasts 10 days.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, enjoyed the shots...I grew up at Cumberland Gap, Tn and have two brothers still there. And Tennessee is and always will be home.
Hi Rose, we visited Cumberland Gap just a few years ago. Love the area.
DeleteI love covered bridges - they seem to be from a different, slower time. Just lovely. The gate with the apple is great and very fitting.
ReplyDeleteThey do, Carola, and I wish I could spend at least a day in that time.
DeleteWhat a lovely ride. I love covered bridges as well.
