Don't July To Me.....chuckles

Bartlett pears....it won't be long.
I'm all done with my Old Shale *Lace* Ring. The lovely free pattern which you can find here has a different name..I just prefer lace over smoke, I guess. Anyways, this wonderful, lacy cowl can be worn around your neck for warmth or pulled up over your head like a scarf, & it's so light it shouldn't flatten your hair. How's that for a major breakthrough in headgear?
The picture below is a tad dark, but the colors are closer to the how it really looks. I used Schaefer Yarn Heather in the Sophia Smith colorway. The colors are turquoise, magenta, green & brown. (modeled by a vase of silk roses..;)Back view...I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Can't wait for winter, now, so I can wear it & find out for real if it doesn't flatten my hair. I don't tolerate hat-hair very well...here's hoping.
Want to put some zing in your summer? Have a 'mater........salt? :)Hope you're havin' a great summer, Y'all.

  1. The cowl is amazingly gorgeous! I would wear it everywhere! I love the colors and how the drape of the knit folds softly.

Tomatoes! I love getting one tomato off the vine each year, still warm from the sun, and eating it. Strangely, I love slurping out the seeds first *laugh*

  4. The cowl is simply amazing! Very beautiful. I have an idea, you come to my porch for tea and knitting, and I'll come down with my salt shaker for some of those yummy tomatoes!! Mine are still green, but I've had some cherry toms already. Yumm!

  8. Your cowl is absolutely gorgeous! Hope it doesn't flatten your hair too much!!

And the tomatoes--the just look scrumptious--I wish I had a place to plant some. Nothing like a tomato picked straight off the vine!!

  12. I LOVE the cowl! I absolutely can't wear hats. Something like that might be a good idea for me. When we were in Townsend last month, I made a little trip to the knitting nest in Maryville and bought some of that same yarn, in a different colorway. I can't wait to use it. The tomatoes look fantastic. I live close to a farmers market and we are going through the tomatoes faster than I can by them.

Your lace ring is so pretty. I've thought about making one myself. Now, I'm gonna wait and let you try yours out first. :P

My neighbor just brought over some maters last night...fresh off the vine.

    Hugs!

  14. Love the cowl (smoke ring) and the feather and fan pattern. The tomatoes look scrumptous. How about a tomato sandwich (white bread, mayonnaise and salt/pepper). That would be a delightful lunch!
