Kidney Stones - Home Remedy

Have you ever had a kidney stone? Do you know someone who has had them? If not, you may/will sooner or later. Would you know how to help them or yourself get rid of a kidney stone without losing your cool?  Sometimes a doctor will send the patient home with instructions to just wait it out until it passes or sometimes the doctor will schedule surgery to blast the thing to smithereens (costing you thousands of dollars.) Well, our experience has revealed that, often, neither scenario is necessary.

True story:
I've never had a kidney stone, but Goodman has had many kidney stones. The first one was a total shock as he thought he was going to die from the pain. He had no idea what was causing it, and we had insurance at the time so he went to the doctor and was sent home to wait it out. 4 or 5 days ensued before the stone passed. OUCH, but it was finally over.

Years passed happily by... then two years ago the dreadful thing happened again. This time I scanned my herbal remedy books and the internet to see what could be done. I thought it would probably take some kind of drastic measures to alleviate the situation, but I was sure those would be better than waiting for a jagged chunk of hard calcium to make it's way to the light of day. Sure enough, there's a natural solution that begins the dissolving process so that the stones pass within 24-48 hours.
 The solution:
Make LEMONADE with real lemons and have the patient drink a glassful every two or three hours until the stone passes. It's been our experience that the method does indeed work within 24-48 hrs, usually within 24 hours. How easy is that? But what about the pain, you ask. Pain means the stone is lodged in an uncomfortable spot. Try to get it to move by turning somersaults (ha ha) or some less strenuous exercise. I've witnessed this work, also.
Not only has this remedy worked for my husband several times, but it's worked for another family member, also.

Now, I'm not a physician, so if you need to, by all means, see a doctor.  If you are sure you have a stone and are willing to let it pass naturally... make some lemonade to expedite the process.

  2. Hey TexWisGirl! Thanks for the tip on using lemons for indigestion. Ha, I bet if you ever had a kidney stone it wouldn't have a prayer with you drinking lemon juice every night.

  3. I have a kidney stone (discovered when they did a test for something else). It has never bothered me, but I would like to get rid of it before it gets larger. I will try this. I do drink lots of lemon juice in water, but not every hour. Thanks for the idea, especially since it's worked for your husband.

  5. I've had kidney stones. Unbearable pain. I agree with Goodman: I thought death was nearby. It found a spot to stay for about 7 years before it decided to move. It was too big ... got stuck in the urethra ... surgery ... blah, blah. ha It was about three weeks of recuperating. I'll keep the lemon remedy in mind. Thanks!

  6. Oh my goodness, bless your heart, LesleyAnn! That must have been an ordeal.
Goodman's last stone was large and very stubborn. He asked for prayer at our daughter's church, and it disappeared! God is real, and He still heals.

  7. I love hearing about all these natural remedies...especially since I usually get sick outside of my doctor's office hours. Better to have a variety of herbal remedies on hand just in case.

  11. Quentin has several kidney stones and when one starts to move it is torture. We have spent 20,000 + dollars over the past 15 years. He will have to start drinking real lemonade everyday!!

Hope you are enjoying your week.

  14. Hi Vicki! Oh my goodness, isn't it a shame that doctors don't mix homeopathy with their medical training? I think it would be the perfect plan. Hope this helps your husband.

  15. Yes, it is true!! Lemons and their acid help dissolve those nasty stones..and that same acid is very alkalizing to the body. Oh, you have blue hydrangeas!! I would love that mine would stay blue, but alas! they always revert to pinkkkk! Not enough acid!
I am writing a post on lemons for down the road, so I may have to link to your post then :)
You are a blessing and I look forward to your comments. It is wonderful to get to 'know' new friends. wouldn't it be fun to meet? Maybe in heaven!

  16. Great to know! I am trying to get better after antibiotics from a sinus infection killed everything and I got a yeast and bladder infection. I am using Uva Ursi for the bladder and yogurt for the other-finally feeling better.

  17. Jacqueline, I love the above pic of our blue hydrangeas, but it was taken last month. They are slowly turning purple now! I've been looking at natural ways to keep them blue, so I'm watering them with 2 TBS. vinegar to a gallon of water. I hope, I hope.

  18. Elaine, isn't it awful how curing one thing sometimes causes something else with medications! I hope you're all better soon - hopefully, the uva ursi will take care of the infection.

  20. Wonderful tip. I have heard that taking a tablespoon of lemon juice a day in a small glass of water is a great way to release toxins out of the system.

  25. Wow, that is wonderful information! I had a family member with the same issues and I read that lemon essential oil would help but they were leery about the natural route and didn't try it. Now reading this, I am pleased to tuck this information away with a personal testimony to back it up (hopefully not for my future though, hee, hee)...

Thanks for diligently sharing with us on the Art of Home-Making Mondays in 2014. Hope you continue with us in 2015 :)

Have a happy, healthy and blessed new year Toni! :)
