A Blue Spring In the Foothills

Hello from the foothills where Spring is in full swing.  The seed clusters in this maple tree provided just enough dappled shade to darken the color of our resident Eastern Bluebird.  Love the color.

He and his mate have been preparing the bluebird box just outside my kitchen window for nesting.  She watched me closely while he waited his turn at the birdbath.

You can leave anytime now, Mr. Robin....

 Finally in...

Is there anything better than a long splash in cool water?

I hope your Spring (or Autumn) is filled with lots of gorgeous color.

  3. Beautiful photographs, Toni! Bluebirds are rare around here, so I'll have to enjoy your pictures. That's so nice that she is nesting nearby so you can enjoy the progress. Spring hasn't arrived here yet, but we are always hopeful!

    1. Hi Jane! I love watching these birds so Goodman mounted a nesting box where I could watch it while I'm cooking, etc. I'm sure your spring is imminent, but as always, we'll be in a humid heatwave before you, too. Argh.

  6. Hello!:) Incredibly beautiful birds, and captures. The blue bird is so vibrant in colour, and with his pinkish breast is an altogether spectacular creature. You are so lucky to see them in your garden. Love the images you captured in the bird bath, and it's always nice to see your American Robins. Enjoy your weekend!:)

  8. The Eastern Bluebirds are an absolute favorite of mine. They sit atop the fence posts of our garden enclosure in summer, but I never manage to get a good photo. Yours are fantastic!

    1. Hi Deb! I've never seen those balls for sale, but I do put out yarn and bits of wool for them sometimes. Thanks for the reminder as I had not done that yet, and they are already building their nests.
