Many years have passed since then, and I never once thought I'd see another one. It was covered in dirt and drips and splotches from who-knows-what, but I wanted this machine. The price was very reasonable, but I hesitated thinking it'd be a waste if it didn't work. Goodman said he could probably fix whatever might be wrong so I took her home. Well, after a good cleaning and a lot of adjusting she works just fine.
There's a small compartment on the side for accessories. All that was in there was some needles and two bobbins. Still I'm thrilled. I hope to find some more bobbins and a belt since this machine can, also be used with a treadle cabinet.
The serial number was still intact so I was able to get the date of manufacture from the Singer site.
I sewed these lil white pumpkin pincushions on it earlier. Who knew white pumpkins were so cute? o.O
Hope y'all have a splashin' good weekend!
Linking up with May Sewing Party.
THAT is a real beauty and it works, too! You've got me all excited over Aria, again.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the white pumpkins! Now I'll have to go raid my fabric stash and copy you shamelessly. Maybe I'll even use that as a test run for Aria. O.O
What are those babies? Are those bluebirds or bluejays? I don't reckon I've ever seen bluejay young. I say bluebird because of the lack of a topknot.
You're right, TG, those are juvenile bluebirds. There were nine including the adults the day I took the picture. You're gonna love your machine when you get it working even more than you do now.
DeleteThose white pumpkins are fun to make...go for it!
Oh My Gosh! This is a fabulous treasure!!! So glad you got it. I can't believe you made those darling pumpkins on it. White pumpkins are my favorite. You have a splashing good weekend too :)))
ReplyDeleteThank you, Danette. I believe I caught white pumpkin fever while reading about yours a few weeks back. ;D
ReplyDeleteWow~ are those buntings? They don't look like bluebirds.... if they are buntings I'm gonna be so jealous... *wink*
ReplyDeleteYour Singer is precious... I just love those old machines! (They are so HEAVY!!)
Paula, they are bluebirds in transition from juveniles to adults. We do see through occasional hunting but not very often. I'd love to see them more. :)
DeleteOhh! Beautiful finding! I must congratulate you for that awesome "new" sewing machine of yours. I have inherited one from my grandmother but not so old (from the 40-50's). Sadly I don't have any room for it in my tiny flat so it is still at her home, waiting till the day I rescue it.
ReplyDeleteWhite pumpkins are adorable. Who said you cannot sew them in any other colour than orange?
Autumn is starting today. Happy harvest season!
Thank you, Alhana! Truly, I don't have room for another machine, either but it needed to come home with me. ;D
ReplyDeleteWhat a find! That is fantastic! It is truly beautiful. The fact that it actually works makes is that much better, doesn't it? I've not seen a wooden case like that before.
ReplyDeleteThe bluebirds are beautiful as is the birdbath. I love it.
Thank you, LesleyAnn. I'm glad it works as I really wanted a machine I could use in case the electric power was off. We had a recent outage, and the time before it was fixed was so very slow passing. I could have sewed if I'd had it then. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fortunate find for you! The machine was lucky to have found such a good home as well.

Thank you, Kay, and welcome to the foothills!
ReplyDeleteI am loving that sewing machine! And the white pumpkins, too!
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki! I like that machine more everyday. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful old machine! Just darling pumpkins! Love those pretty birds!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! Mom still has my Grandma's old Singer Trundle Machine. It works like a stitchin demon.
ReplyDeleteFantastic sewing machine find !
ReplyDeleteNo electricity needed !We had a family of 8 Bluebirds all taking a
splashy bath this week ! Also had a sneaky Hawk visit the birdbath !
I LOVE your old hand crank machine! What a beauty. You can probably find the owner's manual for it online for free. I bought an old treadle machine (singer) from a gentleman who refurbishes them and then sells them, he emailed me the owner's manual for it! I was also able to get attachments from him. He had a hand crank machine similar to yours as well. I sooo love non-electric tools like this that make our work load easier!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love those pumpkins pincushions, too. I think I will make one with the Treasure. :)
How do you cook down your pie pumpkins? Do you can the pulp for pie-making later?
Life has been crazy here, I have missed reading your blog so much! I'm looking forward to catching up.
Blessings,
Missuz C

Your "new" sewing machine is awesome :) Such a find! It really looks like it's in great condition!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. I miss keeping in touch with my knitting friends and seeing what they are up to.
Those white pumpkins are too cute. I'm looking forward to seeing all your new creations thanks to your new sewing machine :)
Have a nice weekend!
Oh, I am looking over your older posts! We have an old electric Singer model from a clothing factory in England at the turn of the century. It was my grandmother's, and I used it as a teen ager in the late 50s and early 60s. Your photos are excellent to show how well made they were! Blessings and a hug!!
ReplyDeleteI am not much of a sewer but I love the look of that machine! So classy! I do have a fascination with owning a machine that doesn't use electricity. It seems wise to have in these unusual times...
