1. What am I working on?
Once in awhile I run across a crochet pattern that screams "This is it!" I really enjoy quick projects that come with a big dose of instant gratification, and this one has just that. This free dishcloth pattern is quick, has lots of texture and actually looks something like its namesake. Zinnia.
The best part is they are useful. They can be used to wash dishes or as a washcloth. They stack well and never need folding...yay!
Look at all that color and texture. They look good just laying around, too. It's a great pattern. Go ahead, make your own fun stack of cloths.

2. How does my work differ from others of its genre?
Actually, questions like this never cross my mind. I just make whatever I like. Remember these dryer balls? :))
My projects either make me happy or are useful in some way.

It varies with the project. Sometimes I use patterns, other times I just wing it.
Speaking of winging it, yesterday Goodman and I visited a birding park in our area.

DeleteOh, that Bluebird quilt makes my eyes happy!! I do love your cute dryer balls display :) did you use kool-aid for dying the yarn or actual dye?
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, the yarn in the dyebath was pale green so I overdyed it using turmeric. The yarn for the gold cloth was done with turmeric, too. I usually use either herbs or frosting dyes. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteThis dishcloth zinnia pattern is awesome! I absolutely love the colors. They are so beautiful. You are so talented. I sure wish I could do handiwork like this, but I just don't have the talent or the patience. My mama used to do a lot of sewing and quilting, but I never acquired the gift of sewing.

DeleteWow! I'd love to have a stack of those dishcloths. But you should see me try to knit or crochet -- most people do it for relaxation, *I* get all tensed up, shoulders up around my ears!

You always inspire! AND thank you for stopping by for a quick 'Hello'! You made my day, as I'm just trying to stay afloat and do the minimum on the blog over these busy yet rich holidays. Family and local friends (and some not so local) are visiting. We took food for 30 up to Papa's (3 hours away) to care for him over Thanksgiving and will be doing it again for
ReplyDeleteChristmas. The 24/4 help needs some relief over holidays and so we are it! It splits up our family, but Papa won't be with us much longer :(
I LOVE the Zinnia's. I have always so enjoyed the colors and you present the reasons/photos beautifully. It is a feast for the eyes!
