Hello 2013

Greetings from the foothills!
I'm starting the year off  learning more about sustainable gardening. There's a link over at Deep Roots at Home for streaming the Back to Eden film (which I had never seen before) that is definitely raising my eyebrows (read that ... blowin' me away) as far as gardening method goes.

After realizing that my first big bonafide quilt top was too large for me to quilt on my sewing machine I sent it off (local) to have it machine quilted. I hope to have that back in a week or so to show you the result. I can't wait to see it myself!
Until then ... stay warm!

  4. That quilt will look good in my living room, and looks cozy too !
I started a yo-yo quilt, and quickly got tired of all those circles !
My new years resolution is to finish something !

  5. Hi Susan! The yo-yo quilt sounds nifty.
I have to admit my quilt top sat for six months only needing the border sewn on - took less than an hour to finish it. I don't know why I let it do that.

  6. Hi! I watched the Back to Eden film last spring. I can't wait to start gardening. I keep telling myself we are over halfway to spring. :)

Your quilt top looks great! Can't wait to see it all finished.

    Have a wonderful week.

    :)Vicki

Oh, I'd really like to try the Back to Eden gardening method this year, but it's going to take a while to get started in that direction, hopefully next year.

  9. I'll have to check out Back to Eden~ sounds very interesting! I've been daydreaming about this years' garden ever since our seed cataloq arrived... *sigh*
I'm very nervous about doing the quilting myself on a baby quilt/shower gift I've been working on... it's not that it is that big, I'm just a beginner when it comes to quilting and I don't want to mess up all my hard work thus far (not to mention EXPENSIVE FABRIC... *ugh*) so I've been thinking about having someone else quilt it.
Can't wait to see yours when it's done!

  10. Paula, I've been practicing machine quilting with little quilt sandwiches on my machine, but it's not going so well. I really want to learn free-motion quilting though. The only successful method I've tried so far is stitch-in-the-ditch.

  11. Howdy, Magnolia Tea!
Oh, Thank You SO much for sharing the word about the Back To Eden movie. I hope to move more chips if we get another warm up, and I love your beautiful Mr.Cardinal. They are such a gorgeous bird against the snow.
I am impressed that you can quilt so well and are trying to do the free motion quilting on the top. I've never seen it done. Thank you for visiting Deep Roots. Blessings!
