Hello Snow

Hello from the hills!

The birds are keeping the feeder busy.

One of our granddaughters thinks the cardinal, below looks like an Angry Bird.

This is a quick, picture laden catch-up post.
The James River at the Jamestown Settlement that we visited on our trip in October.

And the Glass House where they demonstrate and sell hand-blown glass items.

I purchased these two hand-blown apothecary jars to use for my tinctures and such.

One of our granddaughters requested a pair of Dragon Scale Mitts for her birthday so I...

Dusted off my crochet hook to fill her order.  She's happy now. ;)

I started a Granny Stripe Blanket after the mitts were done to use up leftover sock yarn.

There's been a lot of cookin' in these hills.  These Cornish Hens on a bed of vegetables were excellent.

We tried a Chinese Broccoli & Chicken recipe.  Not bad but not perfection.

And this Easy Egg Rolls recipe makes the BEST EVER eggrolls on the planet.  Youngest found the recipe here.  Btw, if you look for duck sauce for dipping and can't find it, just add a bit of water to a few spoons of apricot preserves, and you've got a sauce as good as any in the restaurants.  Great, now I'm hungry.

Snoopy says we got a total of three inches of snow on the back deck.   Hope you are enjoying a little snow with a cup of hot cocoa in your neck o' the woods, too.
If you would like to see more of our snow then have a look at the Ober Gatlinburg live webcam here:

  5. Those dragon mitts are very striking, Toni! And I love your apothecary jars. Believe it or not you have more snow than we have. It's really cold here, too cold for snow. We just finished having some eggrolls, must be on everyone's mind. Stay cozy!

    Hugs

    1. Hi Jane! The mitts were fun to make, and it seems half the knitting community has suddenly discovered crochet. I crocheted back when crochet wasn't cool so that's a not a new thing for me. We are freezing at 17 degrees so I'm glad I'm in the South for now. ;) Have a great wekend!

  8. Oh my, Toni. Those mittens are fabulous! I'll bet you had one happy granddaughter when she opened those. We got seven inches of snow about a month ago and had it for about two weeks before it melted. Nothing since then except a dusting or two. But it's quite cold here now. Your snow is beautiful. Were any of these pictures taken with your new camera?

    1. Hi Linda! I did take a couple of pics with the Nikon, but they are the worst ones in the post, the ones with snow. I surely need to learn how to use it to better advantage.

    2. Don't get discouraged. The possibilities are limitless. In the interim, there's always the Auto setting. :)

  9. Happy New Year, sweet friend! How I loved seeing your lovely little Cardinal. We don't get Cardinal's here so seeing your picture brought a smile to my face.

I hope this year is off to a beautiful start. Hugs to you!

    1. Hi Stephanie! I wish the cardinal pic had been better. I have a new camera, but I don't have a clue how to use it just yet. Thanks for stopping by.

  10. We got about 2.5 inches of snow Friday night in North GA. Had frozen sleet under it. We are about 3.5 hours from Pigeon Forge. It is 17 here this morning. I like the 80s so this is COLD to me.

    Enjoyed your pictures.

  11. I have a lot of respect for these birds, staying put to face the cold weather instead of migrating to warmer climes with the hordes.
