Curiously, Good For What Ails Thee

  Howdy, hellooo & g'day, Y'all!

Like everyone else I'm really glad to see the daffodils up and blooming. Can spring be far behind?

I'm talkin' about curiously strong homemade mints, again, to broadcast a curious li'l discovery. This newest batch of mints is made with ginger root. I'd read that ginger helps with indigestion so I made up a batch, dried them and took them with me on a trip to visit with Youngest and her Man o' the House. He suffers from acid indigestion on a regular basis so I knew he would be my best tester, and you know what?

They WORKED! He's sold on them, now. I'm adding these to my herbal medicine chest. If you'd like to make some ... I worked 1 tablespoon of ginger root powder into a large walnut-sized portion of the gum paste.

Another batch of cinnamon ... these are just plain tasty.

Aspargus roots ready to plant as soon as the weather cooperates. Have I mentioned that I can't wait for Spring? Until next time ... keep it curious, Y'all.  ;)

  4. Thanks for a delightful post--all the way from your adorable little birds to the asparagus roots. I love, love, love ginger. If I ever get really congested, I make a strong tea out of diced ginger, and it really helps. It is good for so many things.

  6. Nice daffodils, Mum. I can't wait for the weekend O.O

I think I'm going to make a batch of curiously ginger mints, this week. It seems prudent to have plenty on hand!
I miss asparagus! I want to plant some, but I think that, without a fence, the deer would enjoy it the most.
Remember when we used to read up on the 18thC, the quote of Thomas Jefferson to his wife? "How groweth your aspargus?"

    Me:)

  7. Your daffodils are so pretty! I do hope spring hurries up and gets here quickly. :) Your mints look so tasty. I planted asparagus last year for the first time. I can't wait until I am able to harvest some.

    Have a great week!

  9. Thank you, Vicki! I've been putting my coffee grounds on the asparagus bed. The grounds give them a big shot in the arm, and adjusts the ph in the soil so it's just right for asparagus.

  10. I am anxious for Spring too! I have been knitting bunnies like crazy :))) Your daffodils are a sight for Winter starved eyes! Ours are just starting to poke through the ground here in central Illinois. We have big fat fluffy snowflakes falling at the moment {expecting upto 6 inches today}. I think we have a couple of corners to go round for Spring here! Your mints look wonderful. So glad they helped your son~in~law!
    Happy Day,
    Danette
